CIPP Liners vs. Pull-In-Place Liners
CIPP and Pull-In-Place liners are the two most common types of sewer liners used to repair leaks and cracks. The following are the main distinctions between the two:
- Cured-in-place pipe (or CIPP) lining is a trenchless pipe repair method that eliminates the need for digging into the ground. Instead, an epoxy resin-coated textile liner is installed inside, effectively creating a new pipe within the old one and sealing any cracks or leaks. The interior of the pipe is cleaned, and liner material is injected through a small access point. A steady stream of hot steam is passed through the pipe, allowing the liner to cure in place on the existing pipe’s edges and into the cracks.
- Two access points are required for pull-in-place sewer lining. In contrast to CIPP lining, the lining material is already molded to the shape of the pipe before being inserted. Access must be provided on one end of the sewer line to insert the liner and on the other end to pull the liner through. A pull-in-place sewer line contains epoxy. After it has been pulled through a clean pipe and inserted, the air is blown through it to expand the liner and shape it into the inside of the sewer pipe. The liner is then adhered to the sides of the pipe using hot steam.
When deciding which liner is best for you, you can rely on the professional expertise provided by our technicians at Pinpoint Plumbing. Call us today to learn more about sewer liners and how we can help with your drain and pipe issues.
